Ms. Mary Kate Middlebrooks

Ms. Mary Kate Middlebrooks, more affectionately known as “Kate”, was born on May 28, 1938, to the late Mrs. Nancy Pennyman Middlebrooks and the late Mr. Willie Middlebrooks in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. She was educated in the public schools of Upson County.

Kate was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. To support her family, she was employed as a cafeteria worker at Carter's Mills. She also worked at the Meat Plant. She made many sacrifices to care for her children. She was blessed with eight.

During her leisure time, she enjoyed talking, shopping at Walmart, watching her Westerns and Perry Mason. She loved cooking---her cornbread was a favorite among the children---and she enjoyed taking trips. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a nickname for all the grandchildren. She especially loved her sons-in-law. They were just like her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Kathy Middlebrooks and Tanya Searcy; sisters and brothers, Marie (James) Dawson, Ruth (Harry) Harris, Edward (Catherine) Middlebrooks, Marvin Middlebrooks and James (Geraldine) Middlebrooks. On Sunday, November 2, 2025, the Lord called her name. She answered the call and went home to rest.

She is survived by six children, Mr. Dexter Middlebrooks of Griffin, GA, Ms. Gloria “Lynn” Middlebrooks of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Sherry (Carl) Fagan of Hampton, GA. Mrs. Cynthia (John) Fagan and Mr. Ricky Body all of Thomaston, GA and Mr. Willie Joe (Marissa) Middlebrooks of Jacksonville, Fl.; one sister, Ms. Willie Clyde Middlebrooks of Thomaston, GA; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three devoted friends, Ms. Brenda Seay, Ms. Ann Campbell and Ms. Brenda Mann; a devoted niece, Mrs. Mattie King all of Thomaston, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
