Ms. Kal Venus Ellison was born on March 13, 1960, to the late Calvin and Doris Ellison, and she departed this life on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at High Point Medical Center.

Kal attended Guilford County public schools and was a graduate of Lucy Ragsdale High School. She attended the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she also played the piccolo in the band.

Kal owned a flourishing cleaning business that was marked by excellence, dedication, and a passion for people. She also worked at Levolor. Kal resided in High Point, NC, where she was fondly loved by many for her outgoing, straightforward, and poised personality.

Kal was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother, Annie Mae Williams, and sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” Howze.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved daughter, Doris Jade Ellison, and son, Calvin Michael Ellison, both of High Point, NC; her blessed grandchildren, Chazden Kree Ellison-Hayes, and A’laya-Venus A. Carter; three loving sisters, Toni Louise Williams, Laverne Roberts (Archie) of High Point, NC; and Brittany Marie Ellison of Jamestown, NC; she is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who will continue to celebrate her remarkable life.

Kal’s legacy is one of love, service, and unwavering dedication to those she touched. Though her sudden passing leaves a deep void, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her. Her transparency, compassion, warmth, and support left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
