R.B. Hill

11/01/1941 - 11/17/2025

Mr. R.B. was born on November 1, 1941, in Attala County, Mississippi, to the late Mrs. Melinda Hill Brown and John Wesley Hill. Raised a loving, hardworking family, he learned early the values of faith, resilience, and caring for others. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Cosie “Buddy” Hill, Nathaniel “Pewee” Hill, and Curly Lee Hill; and his sister, Ethel Lee Thornton.

On November 11, 1961, he united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Rosetta Chapman Hill, his “most precious rose,” Their marriage was a true partnership filled with Devotion, laughter, and unwavering love. She preceded him in death, but their bond remained one of his greatest blessings.

Their union was blessed with four children: one daughter, Debra Faye Hill, and three sons, Undra Hill, Orlanda “Yogi” Hill, and Eric Hill R.B. was a devoted father who taught by example, through hard work, kindness, patience, and the belief that family is life's greatest treasure.

R.B. attended Attala County schools and later Holmes Community College, where he earned a trade in welding and mechanic. A man gifted with many talents, he worked throughout his life as a farmer, welder, horse trainer, Shelly Globe building buses, Attala County Beat 3, and maintenance man. Our personal favorite is if it broken Duct Tape will fix it. No matter the task, he was known for his dependability, pride in his work, and willingness to help anyone in need.

He lived a simple but meaningful life. He loved planting vegetables, hunting, fishing, and sharing the fruits of his labor with family, neighbors, and friends. Caring for others came naturally to him; his quiet acts of generosity touched countless lives. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family.

R.B. was a member of New Hope Missionary Church. In his younger years, he served as a Sunday School teacher, passing on lessons of faith and integrity.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Debra Faye Hill of Memphis, TN; and his sons, Undra (Rochetteal) Hill of Tupelo, Orlanda “Yogi” (Kintorichia) Hill of Memphis, and Eric (Barbara) Hill of Memphis.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren- Marcus (Sonya), Andre, DeUndra, Undrea, Deshawn, Orlando, Lando Hill and seven great-grandchildren: Ryan Jai, Riley Joi, Novah, Aleigh, Amari Brooks, Olyliah, Octavia Hill all of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

R.B. is survived by his two sisters, Clara Jane Hill and Lona Mae Brown of West, MS; and two brothers-in-law, Roger and Robert Roberson of Durant, MS. He leaves behind a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Among his cherished companions was Henry Williams and S.J. Flanagan, with whom he shared many meaningful conversations, laughter, and lifelong friendship. R.B. leaves behind a legacy of love, humility, and quiet strength. His life was a testament to hard work, family devotion, and kindness toward all.
