Mr. James Anthony Strickland departed this life on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Hospice Home at High Point. He was born on February 24, 1961, in High Point, NC, to the late Johnny William Strickland, and Ethel Gray Strickland.
James attended the High Point City Schools. In his earlier years he was employed by Adams Millis Corporation, a well-known and major hosiery manufacturer in High Point. After dedicating many years of hard work and commitment to the company, he was eager to explore new opportunity as a self-employed painter, leaving a remarkable legacy defined by his dedication and strong work ethic. He was a Mason for Toussaint: L’ Ouverture Lodge #524 during the year of 2017.
Leaving to cherish his memories: two daughters Krystale Danielle Strickland of Raeford, NC and Ashley Strickland of Norfolk, Va.; four grandchildren: James Darnell Murphy III, Syleena Strickland, Sariah Baron, and Shane Baron; three brothers: Tony (Daisy) McCorkle of Archdale, NC, Hubert (Joyce) Strickland of Greensboro, NC, William (Verna) Strickland of High Point, NC.; three sisters: Virgellen (Wilton) Bynum of High Point, NC, Sandra Thomasson of High Point, NC, and Sally (Ben) McKiver of High Point, NC.; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and a special friend, Tiny Lindsay.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
