Obituary for Margie Marie “Baby Sister” Hubbard Walton


Margie Marie “Baby Sister” Hubbard Walton, born on March 19, 1930, in Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion.


Margie was the cherished youngest child of Isaih and Lena Hubbard, who, along with her siblings Curtis, Isaih, and Katie, preceded her in death. From an early age, Margie demonstrated a deep faith in God, accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Mt. Tema Baptist Church, where her spiritual foundation began.


Margie was a devoted mother and the heart of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fletcher Walton Jr., and her beloved daughter, Darlene “Peg” Walton Lester. She is survived by her children: Catherine “Joyce,” Carlene “Bob,” Fletcher “Terry,” and Sandra “Jean” (Minor). She also leaves behind a host of adoring nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever cherish her memory.


Known affectionately as “Baby Sister,” Margie lived a life defined by kindness, strength, and faith. Her loving spirit, warm smile, and gentle heart brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.


A celebration of Margie’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can gather to honor and remember the remarkable woman she was.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Margie’s life and legacy.


Rest in peace, Margie, knowing your love lives on in the hearts of those who cherish you.
