Obituary For Mother Robbie Lee Porter

Mother Robbie Lee Porter, 95, formerly of Green St., Harrisburg, transitioned into eternal life on Monday, January 14, 2019. She was born in Toccao, GA, daughter of the late Reverend Robert and Berry Lee Blackwell, a graduate of the former William Penn Senior High School and Rowland Reed Beauty School and operated along with her husband, the late Armstead T. Porter, a Beauty Shop for many years. For over 75 years, Mother Porter was a pillar in The Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church where she served in many ministries to include the Music Department as pianist/organist, Advisor and member of the Choir; as a Deaconess, founder & former President of the Senior Citizen's and Church Mother to name a few. Mother Porter was small in stature and a Humble Woman of God, but bold for The Lord as she gave advice based on "The Word of God". She leaves to celebrate her life, daughter/niece, Robbie Blackwell, her two grandsons, Michael and Christopher; her brother and sisters-in-law, Philip and Willette Blackwell, Edith and Sarah Blackwell; her caregiver, Jackie Lawson and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family of "sons & daughters" and friends. Mother Porter's life will be celebrated on Monday, January 21 at 12 Noon in the Sanctuary of her Church, 2447 Green St., with viewing 10:00 a.m.until Noon and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 22 at 10:00 a.m. Donations may be made in Memory of Mother Robbie Porter to The Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to the Ministry of Comfort of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home
