Johnnie Mae Houston: Funeral service for Johnnie Houston, 98, of Opelika, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 8, 2025, at Mount of Transfiguration Church, 3125 Wyndham Industrial Drive, Opelika, AL, 36804 with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801, Reverend Monique Summers will officiate.

Mrs. Houston, who passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Anderson Mill Nursing home in Austell, GA, was born on August 9, 1927, in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Ms. Houston will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Lula Hillery of Austell, GA, Robert Houston of Opelika, AL and Walter (Joyce) Houston of Rocky Mountain, NC; six grandchildren, Fanchette (Razak) Danmola, Sharon (Vernon) Greene, Robert Houston, Jr., Natasha Houston-Chapman, Elvernardo Dexter, and Tikelia (McKinley) Jenkins; six great-grandchildren Ashia Middletown, Chelsey (Nelson) Walker, Christopher Greene, Robert Houston III, Najah Houston and Joel A. Danmola; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
