On December 2, 2025, Willie George “Buck/Monk” Gaddis, Sr. departed this life in Talladega, AL. He was born on January 25, 1948, in Talladega County to the late Mrs. Otha Ruth Wells. He graduated from Talladega County Training School (Class of 1966) and retired as a civil engineer surveyor from the USDA Soil Conservation Service.
Buck was an active participant at New Mt. Avery Church in Lincoln, AL and Reagan Chapel CME in Talladega, AL. He was known for his sense of humor and kindness to family, friends, and the community. His legacy of warmth and compassion will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lewis Hill Gaddis, and youngest son, Patrick Loray Gaddis, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sons: John Bernard (Maria) of Morgantown, WV and Willie, Jr (Brynetta) of Huntsville, AL; daughter-in-law Shalonda Gaddis of Talladega, AL; brothers Willie Edward “Jack” (Raylene) of Alabaster, AL and David Alan “Al” (Vanessa) of Talladega, AL; special “sister” Willie Mae Edwards of Detroit, MI; grandchildren: Branden, Anna, Fontera, Patrick Jr, Gavin, Bradlee, and Meghan; great-grandchildren, Ava, Liam, Josiah, and Aire. He will be fondly remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws who all brought joy to his life.
