Rosalinda Nava (1951-2025)
Rosalinda Nava, a beloved 74-year-old from San Antonio, TX, passed away on December 7, 2025. Growing up in San Antonio, Rosalinda lived life with style, a warm heart, and sparkle, that brightened everyone’s day. Her family, friends, and those who knew her cherished her personality, her kindness, and her eagerness to be out and about, enjoying life.
Rosalinda proudly graduated from Highlands High School, where she was part of the Brigade. She earned an Associate’s Degree from San Antonio College and spent several years working as an office clerk for a law firm. Becoming a mother was one of her greatest joys, and she embraced the role of stay-at-home mom while her children were in school. After her youngest child started high school, she returned to work as a data entry specialist.
Rosalinda was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Gonzaba Casanova and Louis P. Casanova; her husband, Alex Nava; her brother, Louis Casanova, Jr., and her cherished grandpups, Jack and Jill.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by her children, Alex Nava, Jr. (wife, Veronica Nava) and Nicole Marie Nava; her grandchildren, Amorette Vasquez-Nava, Erin Nicole Nava, and Jaden Alexis Gutierrez; her sister, Annie Gonzalez; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved grandpups, Rocky and Apollo.
Ms. Rosie, as she was so lovingly called, found joy in weekend Costco trips with her son and daughter-in-law, as well as spending time with her granddaughters. She adored watching cheer practices at her daughter’s gym and always had a blast at the competitions with her cheer family. Ms. Rosie was a beacon of positivity and laughter, and her optimism was truly her superpower. She faced a unique case of diabetes at a young age and received a second chance at life through a kidney transplant (donor: Carlos D. Cortes).
Despite this, she never allowed anything to bring her down. However, the onset of dementia brought about significant changes in her life, presenting new challenges. While her daily routine underwent modifications, Rosie embraced each moment with grace and resilience. She spent a considerable amount of her daytime with her caregivers, Linda Alvarado and Jessica Sanchez. Ms. Rosie loved going out to eat with them and sharing in their many outings. She seamlessly became a part of their family, and in return, they became family, a wonderful blessing to Ms. Rosie and her daughter, Nicole.
Rosie’s final days were spent surrounded by family, including Thanksgiving, a sweet birthday lunch with her daughter, and a wonderful birthday celebration with close family and friends. A week later, she was peacefully called home to our Heavenly Father.
Her love and kindness touched everyone she met, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she be remembered for her joyful spirit, her warmth, and the countless memories she created that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
(Thank you to Roxanne Martinez, Jovannie Rodriguez, and Alejandra Zamora for their time spent with Ms. Rosie.)
