The Obituary

Lucille Garlngton was born January 31, 1930, in Altoona, AL to Walter Garlington and Mattie Garlington Rogers. She departed this life on December 11, 2025. She received her education in Altoona, AL. and later moved to Attalla. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Hayes Chapel Methodist Church in Altoona, AL. She later joined Antioch Methodist Church where she served in various ministries. She was the Kindergarten Sunday school teacher, a member Usher board, The United Methodist Women and Culinary Ministry. She served faithfully in the Antioch-Goodsell United Methodist until her health declined.

On August 3, 1953, she was united in matrimony with Willie Marbury Jr. To this union, three children were born. She was a loving and caring mother to her children and all of the children in the community. She instilled in her children the value of hard work and taught them the things needed to live a productive life.

Affectionately called “Granny” she was known for her cookies and ice cream that she would give to the children of the community. She was blessed to work 28 years in the Etowah County School System and retired as Lunchroom Manager at Stowers Hill Elementary School.

She is preceded in death by Buddy and Eddie Garlington, Beatrice Rasberry, Catherine Harris, Clemon, Frankie, Roy Rogers, and Tony Johnson.

She is survived by three children Thomas H. and Benny L. (Bobbie), both of Attalla, AL Sherree M. Weathers (Larry) Gadsden, AL sister Estella Rogers Altoona, AL. Grandchildren Gia Wynn, Timothy, Kimberly, Penny, Tia, Toi Marbury. Larry II, Khaliah Weathers, and Tilmon Stephens. Great-great grandchildren Timothy Duckett, Jakayla Marbury, RJ Riddle, Kamwren and Kingsly Weathers, Parrish Mathis, Timothy Jr., Tazarie Marbury, Amiyah Hardy, Mason Hawkins, Naveah and Heaven Hughley and great- great- great-grandchildren Namiko Marbury. And Loni and Kaden Bell.

In-person condolences and signing of the Register Book will be 12 noon - 6pm Tuesday, December 16, 2025 in the chapel.

Funeral Services will be 12 noon Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the Antioch- Goodsell United Methodist Church, 542 Hammond Ave, Attalla, AL 35954. Burial Rainbow Memorial Park. Eulogist James Aaron
