James Arthur Baker Jr.
January 26, 1933 - October 27, 2025

James Arthur Baker, Jr. was born January 26, 1933, to James Arthur Baker, Sr. and Addie Swilling in Hartwell, Georgia. His family and friends affectionately knew him as “Pee Wee.” He was baptized in Jesus’ name at Free Gospel Church of Christ. James married his true love, Nancy L. Baker, in Goldsboro, North Carolina on October 26, 1959. They celebrated 59 years of marriage before she passed away and was reunited with the Lord on December 9, 2018. James was a hilarious man. He loved laughing, telling jokes, watching football, Humphrey Bogart and James Cagney gangster movies and all of the old western movies. Bonanza, Rifleman, Shane, and every John Wayne movie he could find.

He leaves behind his only son and best friend, William Anthony Baker, Sr.; daughters Teresa L. Rawlings and Linda F. Sykes; a daughter-in-law, Patrice Hood-Baker; granddaughters Keturah Allen, Teon Baker, Felicia Brooks, Ericka Sykes, and Gabrielle Baker (who preceded him in death); and a daughter-in-law, LaTarsha Sykes. Grandsons: Gregory Sykes, Paul Brooks, William “Lil Rick” Baker, Jr., Alex Baker, James A. Baker and William “Will” Baker, Sr., fourteen Great-Grandchildren; Deon Baker, Maikah Underdue, Anthony “Baby Rick” Jenifer, Waseem Baker, Shaona Brandon, Ayinde Mason, Ajani Baker, Malik Baker, Michaiah Underdue, Maulana Baker, James M. Baker, Antoinette Baker, Christian Baker, Kemauri Baker, Alex Baker, Gregory Sykes, Jr., GreShaun Snipe, Aricka Sykes, and Ty’Rek Sykes, and Great-Great Grandchildren; Austyn Underdue, twins Maikah and Gabrielle Dent-Underdue, Khori Baker, Kross Baker, William “Man” Baker, Jr., Tyler Baker, Noah Baker, Carter Baker, Eli Baker, Samira Baker, Genesis Baker, Mianna Anderson, Arianna Snipe, Lamar Sykes and Gracie Thompson.

He is survived by his big sister, Mary Swilling Smith, whom he was fond of. James also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved, and several close relatives and friends who adored him. The world just isn’t the same without James “Pee Wee” Baker..
