Ms. Dorothy Mae Baker was born May 7, 1937, in Jefferson County, GA, to the late Martha Taylor and the late Frank Strowbridge. She was the 1st of 8 children.
She was preceded in death by her only child, Jacqueline, and siblings Alven, Louise, Leroy, John, and Carolyn.
Our precious loved one peacefully transitioned from her earthly life on Friday, December 12, 2025, at her residence in Wadley, GA.
Memorial service and Ballon Release will be held Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at San Clair Missionary Baptist Church, 1208 San Clair Road, Wadley, GA.
She joined San Clair Baptist Church at a young age. She attended Carver High School in Jefferson County. Afterwards, she relocated to St. Augustine, Florida, for a brief period before moving to the Bronx, NY, where she resided until retirement. She held numerous jobs in the Garment District while working toward earning her certifications to care for the elderly in the private sector. Upon Retirement, she returned to Wadley and rejoined her original church from her childhood. Dorothy was an upbeat, loving, kind, funny, and generous person. She will be dearly missed. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, one sister, Eloise Turner of Bennettsville, SC, one brother, Willie Sholts of Augusta, GA, three nieces, Renee Bardney (Perry) of Chicago, IL, Lisa Mixon of Augusta, GA, and Joyce Turner of Bennettsville, SC. One nephew, Willie Bruce Sholts of Lexington, Kentucky. Three great nieces, four great nephews, two great- great nieces and 2 great- great nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
