Larry Douglas Buffington

Larry Douglas Buffington, known to all as “Patchie”, age 46, of Knoxville, TN, born December 18, 1979, passed away on his birthday, Thursday, December 18, 2025. His journey beginning and ending on the same day feels like a full circle—his life’s mission completed with purpose and love.

Patchie was a proud native of Knoxville and attended Knox County Schools. Above all else, he was a devoted father. He was blessed with eight sons and one daughter, and anyone who knew him knew how deeply he loved them. It was rare to see Patchie without at least one of his children by his side. His family was his world, and he poured his heart into being present, supportive, and involved in their lives.

Family was the center of Patchie’s life. He spent most of his time with his siblings and children, and he never hesitated to reach out to extended family, no matter the distance. He was so proud of his family. His entrepreneurial spirit helped him provide for those he loved, and he took pride in supporting his family through various ventures over the years.

Patchie had an adventurous soul and a passion for good food. He often dreamed of becoming a food critic and was always eager to share a meal, a laugh, and a moment of connection with the people he cared about.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Hayworth Kpana; and his brothers, Chris Hayworth and Jacques “Joc” Kpana.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved children: DaQuez, Zytavian, Jacques, Jaire, Malaya, Kamari, Price, DeAris, and Carter; and his grandson, Zy-Mir. He is also survived by his fathers, Larry Buffington and Doc (Priscilla) Mobley; sisters, Debbie Fleming, Monesia (Will) Kpana Craddick, and Caritha Cates; brothers, Broderick “Weazle” Hayworth, David (Whitney) Mobley, Joseph (Derrisha) Mobley, and Alex Cates; significant other, Vanessa Haga; and his life brothers, Willie “Bro” Davis, Richard “Pie” Nelson, and Brian “Boi” Johnson. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends too numerous to name, all of whom were touched by his loyalty, humor, and generous heart.

Patchie lived boldly, loved deeply, and leaves behind a legacy carried on through his children, his family, and the countless lives he impacted.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 12:00-1:20 p.m., with the Celebration of Life to begin at 1:30 p.m., at the Rogers Memorial Baptist Church, 520 College Street, Knoxville, TN 37921. A dove release will conclude in his honor.
