Obituary For Mother Bertha Jackson

On October 11, 1924, in Adrian, Georgia, Bertha Jackson was born to the late George and Maecilla Butts.

Mrs. Bertha Jackson met and married the late Thomas Jackson May 18, 1943. To this union three children were born: Mildred, Barbara, and Sharon.

Mrs. Bertha Jackson worked alongside her husband, who was a businessman along with his siblings. They had many business ventures that were very successful and were an integral part of the community in which she 1ived. Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Matrons Federated Club and the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Bertha Jackson was a member of St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a member of F.D. Kitchen Club, which we now refer to as the Pastor’s Aide Ministry, for many years under the leadership of Rev. F. D. Kitchen. She also served in the Willing Workers Ministry under the pastoral leadership of our present pastor, Rev. Andrew Jefferson. The characteristics portrayed by this virtuous woman will be forever embedded in the hearts of family members and friends.

On Thursday, January 24, 2019, Bertha Jackson departed this life peacefully at her home in Vero Beach, Florida.

Left to cherish fond memories are: her two loving daughters, Barbara (Donald) Johnson of Decatur, GA, and Sharon of Vero Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Ivan(Janice)Lampkin and Torrence Mack; six greatgrandchildren, Tiandria Wright, Jaden Lampkin, Sydney Lampkin, Torrence Mack, Jr., and Ty Mack; one brother, Eddie Butts (Enid) of Tampa, FL; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Butts and Pearl Jackson. Special acknowledgements to her niece and nephews: Katherine Moore, Marvett Gipson, Marvin Butts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.

Public visitation for Mother Jackson will take place from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel in Vero Beach, FL. A Celebration of Life will convene on Saturday, February 2, 2019 beginning at 2:00pm also at St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church in Vero Beach, FL. Burial will follow in Gifford Cemetery in Gifford, FL.
