Mattie Bell McCaskill Battle was born on February 27, 1942, in Palatka, Florida, to Johnnie McCaskill and Odell McCaskill. She was married to Frank B. Battle. She was a homemaker for several years and worked in the agricultural industry in Hastings for ten years. Mattie enjoyed cooking, fishing, and watching western movies.

She was preceded in eternal rest by her parents, Johnnie and Odell McCaskill; her brother, Earl McCaskill; her sister, Catherine Ross-White; Henry McCloud; her grandsons, Anthony McCaskill Jr. and Devry Coring; her granddaughter, Alexcia Roberts, sons-in-law, Haymon Boynton, and Oliver (Elmo) Robinson

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Anthony (Laquita) McCaskill and Thomas McCaskill; her daughters, Brenda (Byron) Christian, Lillian McCaskill, Katherine Boynton, Gwendolyn McCaskill, Pauline McCaskill, and Pamela Whitfield; her brothers, Johnnie McCloud, Leonard McCloud, Eric Young, Dennis Young, and James Young; her sisters, Marion Florence, Regina Hubbert, Brenda Young, and Cecelia Young; her special friends, Minnie Hagana, Joana and Roy; her special grandchild, Shalena Simmons; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Visitation 5-7:30 p.m., Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Felix Coleman Memorial Chapel, 139 N. Main St, Hastings, Florida

Celebration of Life 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2026, at The Lord's Temple Church, 140 Gilmore St, Hastings, Florida

Interment will be held in Pattersonville Cemetery
