Larry Dale Starnes, age 64, entered his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 24, 2025.

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, on December 17, 1961, he was the son of Fred Ervin Starnes and Barbara Hyatt Starnes. A graduate of Rock Hill High School, Dale proudly worked as a welder and electrician throughout his career. He was a faithful member of Roddey Baptist Church, where he served the Lord through volunteer work and as a Deacon.

Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend of 26 years, Karen Mason Starnes, and by his father, Fred Ervin Starnes.

Dale leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother Barbara Hyatt Starnes; his brothers, James Lee Starnes (Debra) and William Edward Starnes (Angela); his brothers-in-law, Randall Mason (Sue) and Rick Mason (Sharon); and his sister-in-law, Kathy Mason Stover (Charles).

Though he had no children of his own, Dale was a proud and devoted uncle to his nieces, Amanda Starnes Putman, Meaghan Workman (Chris), Sherry Burris (Kevin), and Lea Mason; and his nephews, Jason Ledbetter (Andrea), Timothy Putman, Randall Mason, and Brad Mason. He was also blessed with six great-nieces, four great-nephews, and one great-great-niece.

Dale will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his unwavering faith, generous spirit, and the laughter he brought to those around him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Roddey Baptist Church, located at 2678 S. Anderson Road, Catawba, SC 29704. Visitation will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Roddey Baptist Church, designated for the “Children’s Playground Fund.”
