Joe Crawford

Joe was born October 12, 1942, to the late Houston Malone and Elverta Crawford (Harris) in Rossville, TN.

Joe accepted Christ at an early age at Mt Zion Mission-ary Baptist Church in Rossville, TN. Joe departed this life on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Joe graduated from Mt. Pisgah High School and after graduation, he went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. After completing his military service, he returned home and earned his associate degree in Business from Draughon Business College in Memphis. He dedicated any years of faithful service as a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor at Sears, Roebuck and Company until his retirement. He was also a devoted man of faith. He served for many years on the Deacon Board at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Frank E. Ray, Sr. He later joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Hosie Hopkins, Jr., where he continued to grow in faith and fellowship. Joe was a kind-hearted man who never hesitated to help his family and friends in any way he could.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Elaine Crawford, his daughter Rosalyn Crawford his granddaughter Ronesha (Mario Sr.) Allen, his great grandson Mario Antwan Allen Jr, his great granddaughter Madison Aubrey Allen, his sisters Bonnie Shotwell, Don-nell Malone, Jeanette Owens, Jacqueline Williams, Lorine (Willie) Chambers, Mary Etta (Tony) Smith, Pamela Malone, and Stephanie Mitchell, his brothers, Derek Malone, Charles (Bernice) Malone, Clyde (Beverly) Malone, Houston (Teresa) Malone Jr., John Malone, Marcus Malone, and Robert (Tonya) Malone, his uncles, James Malone, and William (Ophelia) Crawford, his Aunt, Maggie Lee Webb, his sisters-in-law, Linda Harris, Linda (Andrew) Britton, Margie Harris, Mary Harris, and Ruby Harris, his brothers-in-law, Charles (Villa) Neely, Derrick (Doris) Neely, Glen (Christy) Neely, and Willis (Wilma) Neely, his God daughter, Victoria Jones and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joe was proceeded in death by his mother, Elverta Harris, his father Houston Malone Sr., his bonus father Willie Herman Harris Sr, his sisters, Oretha Malone, Toy Etta Harris, his broth-ers, Abra Earl Harris, Charles Willie Harris, Hilliard “Bill” Harris, Jesse Earl Malone, Leon Harris, L. T. Jackson, Troy D. Harris, and Willie Herman Harris Jr., his mothers-in-law Lugenia Anderson, and Ida Neely, his fathers-in-law, Casey Anderson, and Albert Neely, and his sister-in-law Beverly Neely.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 5, 2026 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at RS Lewis & Sons Funeral Home 3651 Austin Peay Hwy, Memphis, TN 38128. Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, Janaury 6, 2026 11:00am Breath of Life 3795 Frayser-Raleigh Rd, Memphis, TN 38128

Interment will be in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, TN 38125.
