OBITUARY
In Loving Memory of Michael Gerrod Byers
Michael Gerrod Byers was born on July 12, 1970, to parents Barbara Byers and the late Ernest Stephens, Jr. He was called home to his eternal rest on January 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Stephens, Jr., his grandmother, Naomi Coleman, and four brothers: Kenneth Byers, DeWayne Byers, Timothy Byers, and Xaizer Stephens. Michael kept the faith. He loved the Lord and was a born-again believer of Jesus Christ. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved mother, Barbara Byers, his special Long-Life companion, Pamela Wilson. His
children, T’zia Jackson, Tamia Gibson, and Whitley Concepcion, along with four grandchildren, all of Gadsden, Alabama. Michael is also survived by four brothers: Frank (Cathy) Byers of Center Point,
Alabama; Phillip (Charlotte) Byers of Gadsden, Alabama; Aubry (Charilyn) Byers of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Vernon (Loraine) Stephens of Gadsden, Alabama. Six sisters—Tara Byers, Lawanna
Byers, Janice Stephens, Bobbie Maurbury, Deborah Green, and Diane Cylar—also of Gadsden, Alabama.
He was loved and supported by his two caring aunts, Arretta Thomas of Gadsden, Alabama, and Linda Wright of Detroit, Michigan, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched.

Celebration of life will be 12:00 noon Saturday, January 17, 2026 in the chapel of West Gadsden Funeral Home. Pastor Charles Kirkpatrick, officiating.
