An Obituary is usually designed to give a brief biography of the deceased. If you are attending this funeral, no doubt, you already know the deceased, so a brief biography becomes redundant.
I believe our consecration should be our praising God, thanking Him for his tender mercies and His blessings.
I am a child of the “Great, I AM”, and He has appointed this time through my homegoing for YOU, to seek His face. All of us have an appointed time, and it is critical to live with acute awareness of God’s timing for your life. This service is not an occasion to lament the deceased, but it is an invitation for you to seek the Lord, while you still have time. Just knowing Jesus can make a difference. Serving the Lord is more rewarding and makes the journey more worthwhile. Our daily lives will always give us joy and sadness, but the daily walk with Jesus is always sweeter. He is always the same. Use this time, this service, this death as a connection to the ONE, who also has an appointed time for you.
The most satisfying and wonderful gifts ever given to me were Taurus Bucy Currie and Garmer Bucy Currie, my beautiful sons. From their seeds came the world’s greatest Taurus B. Currie, Jr., Kylah Symone Currie, and Chrisdan Kelly, my grandchildren. In my life, God has placed a host of people to love and care for me. My sister, Lynn Bumpus Dandridge, was my Rock, and Willie Dandridge, my “potato” brother-in-law. My brothers and sisters left beautiful children to care for me as their Aunt. The fabulous 5, Carole LaVonne Lowe Nedab, Lucia Lynnette Bumpus Clinkscales, Adria Dandridge Chambers, Vince Everette Reed, and of course, sweet Baby Andi, Andrea Lynnette Dandridge. These nieces and nephews loved me throughout my journey: James Bumpus, Aaron Kelley, Corey Kelley, Brent Kelly, Brian Kelly, Alice Jackson, Trudy Bumpus, and my God-daughter Angie Vaulx. My gratitude to Sonja Currie, Cynthia Cash, Jamason Wade, and Gwendolyn Jeffires, my friend and confidante.
My church family has been amazing. Thanks, Earnestine, Maime, Curtis, and Fred. Love you, Atty. Christopher Taylor. Now I am with the “Great One” to boss me around. Chantel, help Chris through this. Love to my prayer partners, Celeste and Georgette. My journey has been enhanced by a great missionary mentor, Juanita Mitchum, mentors Velma Jones, Marilyn Johnson, my Sorors, and the Owens family. Thanks, Central Baptist Church, I heard your prayers. Many thanks to the family we have in Henning and Nashville. Thanks, LaJoy. Calling names is always treading water because you forget names. Just know, all of you have been a blessing to me.
