Constance Izene "Connie" Evans

Passed 01/11/2026

Connie Patterson Evans, 79, received her wings on January 11, 2026. She was born on October 3, 1946, in Augusta, GA, to the union of Rev. Elbert and Mrs. Gladys Patterson. She spent most of her childhood life in McCormick, SC. She later moved to Augusta, Georgia, where she received her education from Lucy C. Laney High School. She also met the love of her life, Louis Evans, in Augusta, Georgia, where they joined in matrimony on October 8, 1970. They were parents of four lovely children, Marcus, Shawn, Chandra and Theresa.

Connie was a member of Moses Missionary Baptist Church. There she enjoyed worshipping the Lord and being a part of the Seniors Enhancement Ministry. She was a sweet, loving individual that would do anything for someone in need. She lived a very giving and sacrificial life, never hesitating to support her family and loved ones in any way that she could. One of the many ways that she gave was through her cooking, which was one of her passions. Connie cooked with love, and anyone who sat at her table tasted that love in every bite.

Connie worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the housekeeping department for more than 35 years, where she later retired. She received several awards for her outstanding performance on the job.

In her spare time, when she wasn’t cooking and cooking, and did I say cooking, she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, going to the beach, listening to music, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Evans, her son, Marcus Patterson; siblings, Evelyn McCullough, Annie Ruth Belcher, Marian Sullivan, Alberta Smalley, Mozana Clinkscales, Charlie Patterson, Virginia Washington, Lafrita Patterson Ashley and Bobby Joe Patterson; grandson Termayne Cobbs

Connie leaves her family and friends to cherish her memories: Daughters Chandra Patterson and Theresa Evans; sons, Marcus (deceased) and Shawn (Virginia) Patterson. Grandsons: Carlos Walker, Damion Williams, DaShawn (Britney) Patterson, Keshonn Patterson, Marcus Patterson Jr, Mekell Patterson, Vernon Lee Johnson, Dominique Thompson, Granddaughters: Destony Johnson, LaShawndria Patterson, and Felita Williams; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and great-grandchildren.
