Born on Tuesday, July 11, 1933, in Atlanta, Georgia, Ella Mae Glass Nurse was the beloved daughter of the late William and Candice Glass. She was raised in a loving home in Atlanta, Georgia, where she graduated from Washington High School. Her academic achievements were a testament to her dedication and determination, qualities that she carried throughout her life.
Her career with the IRS in New York spanned over twenty years. After retirement, she moved back to Atlanta, Georgia where she worked with the Atlanta At Risk Youth Group. She was committed to making a difference in every role she undertook. Ella subsequently moved to Talladega, Alabama and worshiped with Faith Whole Truth Church.
Ella was married to Clifford P. Nurse for over thirty-five years. She was the devoted mother of Ronald (Gwendolyn) Nurse and Glen Nurse, both of Talladega, Alabama. Ella was immensely proud of her sons, who were her pride and joy. Additionally, she will be fondly remembered by a host of nieces and nephews, who were fortunate to feel her warmth and affection throughout their lives.
Ella Mae Nurse, a cherished resident of Talladega, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the age of 92. Ella was preceded in death by her parents, William and Candice Glass.
Ella Mae Nurse’s life was a testament to love, strength, and enduring faith. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were privileged to know her. May she rest in peace, and may her memory continue to brighten the days of her loved ones.
