Delores Foust McKoy, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch, was born on March 4, 1937, in Candor, North Carolina. She transitioned in Greensboro, North Carolina, leaving behind a powerful legacy rooted in love, strength, and family.
Delores was born to the late Roberta Hines and Edward Bostic. She was a woman of wisdom, resilience, and undeniable presence. She carried herself with grace and authority, shaping generations through her guidance, discipline, and unconditional care. Known for her nurturing spirit and strong will, she instilled values of independence, dignity, and perseverance in everyone she touched. She loved comic books and enjoyed playing all kinds of sports with her children and family. Her home was a place of learning, love, and tradition—where family always came first.
She became a member of the Old North State Elks Temple #142 in 1988, and in 2017 she received the Elk of the Year Award. She was also a proud Golden Girl member.
Delores was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Foust McCastle; her sisters, Geraldine McCoy and Janice Terry; her aunts and uncles, Carline Capel, Iola Alston, and James Luther Foust, Jr.; her grandchildren, Johnathan and Madison McKoy; and her children, Terry Foust and Mary Jacqueline “Tiny Tear” Foust.
Delores leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Leonard Foust (Gwen), Sandra Kersey (Keith), Benjamin McKoy (Kim), Felton McKoy (Bonnie), and April McKoy (Khris); along with 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry forward her legacy of strength and Delores Foust McKoy will be remembered as the heart of her family—a true matriarch whose influence will live on through the generations she nurtured and the lives she shaped.
Funeral service will be held Saturday , January 24, 2026 12pm Mt. Zion AME Church 1422 Huffine Mill Road Greensboro, North Carolina. Visitation will be held prior at 11:30am.
