Nathaniel Alphonso Samuels was born on May 16, 1962, in Passaic, New Jersey. He attended the Newark Public School System during his early years. At the age of 12, he went to live with his aunt and uncle, Jennifer and Nathaniel Manning, in Willingboro, New Jersey.
In 1979, Nathaniel moved to San Antonio, Texas, with his Aunt Jennifer, who later became his legal guardian and beloved mother. He attended Judson High School, where he ran track and participated in the Medical Sciences program. With aspirations of becoming a Medical Biochemist, he graduated in 1980 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army. Nathaniel proudly served his country for eight years.
After separating from the Army, he returned to Texas and settled in Austin, where he worked as a manager for Toys “R” Us. Determined to further his education, he earned an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering. This accomplishment led him to Houston, Texas, where he built a successful career as an IT Technician with Sprint, T-Mobile, and Asurion. He also served several years as a supervisor in shipping and receiving with FedEx.
Nathaniel had a zest for life and a love for adventure. He enjoyed dancing, zip lining, decorating his home, and trying new experiences. Dressing well was one of his greatest passions, earning him the affectionate nickname “Mr. GQ.” He also loved to travel and was especially devoted to his mother, Jennifer, insisting on accompanying her so she would never travel alone.
Nathaniel was a genuine, fun-loving, and kindhearted gentleman who was respected and cherished by many. His warm spirit, laughter, and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
