JOSEPHINE A. JACKSON. was born on August 26, 1947, to the union of Mary Lee & Joseph Ausgood in Quitman, Georgia. She transitioned with a calm & peaceful spirit on January 12, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by the love & support of her core family.
Josephine A. Jackson was the heart of her family, known for her steady love, gentle wisdom, honest candor, & the way she made everyone around her feel deeply cared for. As a wife, mother, grandmother, & great-grandmother, she poured herself into her family & found her greatest happiness in being present for them, especially her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride, joy, & even moments of challenge, all of which she embraced with grace.
Courage, strength, tenacity, & agape love were her armor.
Josephine cherished the simple pleasures of life, from fishing & gardening to traveling & surrounding herself with beautiful perfumes, clothing, & fashion. Her warmth, generosity, & gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her, & her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband of 59 years, Charlie M. Jackson, Jr., three children, Carolyn Nelson, Debbie Jackson, & Michael Jackson: her sister, Barbara Jean Ausgood; & one grandchild, Toni Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memory sons, Kenneth L. Jackson, Morris (Vernice) Simmons, Charlie M. (Maria) Jackson III, Anthony (Joslyn) Jackson & Kevin Jackson; two daughters, Sharon Jackson & Ashley Jackson (Rashid) Harris; a brother, Victor Ausgood (Bainbridge, GA), & sister Arie Jo Bradley (Bainbridge, GA),
Her memory is also dearly cherished by her fifteen grandchildren, Demetrius Jackson & Kanika Williams, Macy Hayes, Antania Green & Diamonde Henderson; Morris, Jr., Sabrina & Michael Simmons; Erin, Lauren, Morgan, & Anthony Jackson; Konner & Kaitlin Jackson; & Lorenzo (Harris) Lloyd; four great-grandchildren, Kayden, Kyndall, Trey & Kar'ri McGhee.
Her memory will be forever cherished by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends on Jackson Road, in Brooks & Lowndes Counties, Atlanta, GA, Bainbridge, GA & around the country.
A very special honor and acknowledgment go to her adopted daughter; Taffaney Smith. Whom she lovingly named "Tap Tap". Your love and devotion were spoken of daily, and she always looked forward to your calls, visits, lunch, and dinner dates. Those moments she would talk about for days, and they gave her much internal peace and comfort.
Rest in peace, "Momma". Your kind and loving spirit will forever be in our hearts.
We will dearly miss you for the rest of our lives.
