Roberta Ellen (Byler) Bridges

10/05/1961 - 01/21/2026

Roberta Ellen (Byler) Bridges, a cherished mother, devoted sister, and beloved friend, peacefully returned to her heavenly home on January 21, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 64 years old. Roberta was born on October 5, 1961, in Sharon, PA, to the union of William Byler Sr. and Sara (Duffy) Williams, and she spent her life in the heart of Farrell, where she made lasting connections and countless memories.

Roberta graduated from Farrell Area High School in 1979 and later pursued higher education at Trumbull Business College, graduating in June 1997 with an associate’s degree in business computer applications. With a heart for service, she dedicated many years to caring for the elderly and disabled, first as a health care worker and later as a housekeeper at Hampton Inn, where her warmth and attention to detail were appreciated by all who encountered her.

At just 15 years old, Roberta met the love of her life, Lonnie Bridges Sr. They found solace and strength in each other, uniting in holy matrimony on June 19, 1999, and together welcomed three wonderful children: Lonnie Jr. Preston and Shacara. The love within their family was a bond that will never be broken, and Roberta’s nurturing spirit will live on through her children and grandchildren.

Faith in God was paramount to Roberta. She was an engaged member of the Greater Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ, where she found her spiritual home. She actively participated in Monday Night Prayer, Tuesday Night Bible Study, and Sunday School, pouring her heart into her faith and her church community. Roberta found joy in serving others, even embracing her role in keeping the church clean, ensuring it remained a welcoming space for all.

Roberta’s legacy is entrusted to her children, Lonnie Jr. and his fiancé Liz Downs, Preston (Jessica) Bridges, and Shacara Bridges and her fiancé Ashton Johnson. The lessons of resiliency she imparted will continue to illuminate through her granddaughters; Bella Bridges, Sara Bridges, Nataia Williams, and Lillian Cousar, and grandson; Asher Johnson.

Roberta leaves precious memories with her four brothers William Byler Jr., Lawrence (Marissa) Byler, Eugene Byler, and Eric (Sharon) Williams and sister, Traci (Tim) La Valle. In addition, she will be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, and her godson, Cecil Robinson.

As Roberta’s faith became sight, she became reunited in eternity with her husband, Lonnie Bridges Sr., father William Sr., mother Sara Williams, a significant father figure in her life Early B. Williams, sister Irene Byler , and sister-in-law Cheryl Byler, each of whom she loved dearly.

Roberta’s unwavering spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched. Her family invites all who knew her to join them in honoring her memory, reflecting on the beautiful moments shared, and celebrating a life well-lived.

A public viewing will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Greater Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ, 1825 Roemer Blvd, Farrell. The celebration of Life services will commence at 11:00 AM with Superintendent Tyrone Steals as the officiant. After the committal ceremony, Roberta will be lovingly laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery.
