Ms. Janice Pearl Cunningham Swain was born on Monday, November 10, 1952, in Talladega, AL to Mr. Donnell Cunningham and Mrs. Elizabeth Embry Cunningham.

Janice graduated from Talladega College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She retired from the State of Alabama as a Mental Health educator.

She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Nia Alloway; her sisters, Barbara Cunningham, Elisie Cunningham, Bertha Cunningham, Carolyn Chatman and Shelia Cunningham; and her brother, Nathaniel Cunningham.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Shayla Spearman, her grandchildren, Alia Alloway, Caylee Alloway, Rawn Spearman, Ava Spearman; her great grandchildren, Layton Alloway, Nia Rose Alloway; her ;sisters, Geraldine Garrett, Betty Simmons (Wesley) and Judith James (Peter); and her brother, Herman Cunningham (Jackie).
