Pastor Wilma Isom Griffin

Pastor Wilma Ruth Isom Griffin was born on December 27, 1936, in Barney, Georgia, to the late Everlina Mosley and Willie Isom. She received her education through the local public school system and was the last surviving member of her graduating class.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Deacon J.C. Griffin, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage. Pastor Griffin was employed with the Quitman Manufacturing Company until her retirement. After retiring, she continued to serve her community by working in the cafeterias of Brooks County Hospital and Brooks County High School.

Pastor Griffin furthered her education at Valdosta Technical College, where she earned a certificate in Child Care Development. She faithfully served as Pastor of Modern Day Holiness Church in Quitman, Georgia, for 36 years and later served as Assistant Pastor under Bishop Griffin for 26 years. She later joined Union Cathedral under the leadership of Bishop Wade S. McCrae.

She was a pillar in her community and enjoyed attending A.C.T.O. Senior Center and My Friend House in Valdosta, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Arnesha Griffin.

Pastor Griffin leaves to cherish her loving memory two daughters, Debra Isom of Valdosta, Georgia, and Drucella Pierce (Ricky) of West Palm Beach, Florida; five sons, Curtis Griffin (Pam) of Quitman, GA, Ronald Griffin (Cassandra) of Valdosta, GA, Tony Griffin (Vonnie) of Quitman, GA, Darryl Griffin of Valdosta, GA and Corey Griffin, Sr.(Tomika) of Valdosta, GA; One special son Jim McGhee, Sr. and Family, of Quitman, GA; Brother-in-law Mack Arthur Griffin of Quitman, GA; Two Sisters-in-law Essie Mae Griffin and Emma Jean Griffin, 28 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of God in Unity Tabernacle in Quitman, Georgia with Brother Tony Herring, Sr. officiating. Burial followed at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Quitman.
