OPELOUSAS-Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Christian Life Center in Opelousas, LA located at 2892 S. Union Street, Opelousas, LA for Mr. Gilbert Thompson, 84, fondly referred to as Koch, who entered eternal rest on Monday, January 26. 2026, at Oschner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be held in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.

Pastor Benny Reppond, pastor of Christian Life Center will be officiating the funeral service.

Mr. Thompson leaves to treasure his memories, his loving wife, Mary, their six children, Ricky, Rodney (Edolia), Reginald, Sr., Roderick, and Michael, and one daughter, Rachel (Kevin) Babineaux; two grandchildren, Destini Babineaux and Reginald, Jr.; a sister, Elsie Thompson of Rosedale, LA.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Watson Thompson and Mrs. Gertrude Hawkins Thompson, his siblings, Leroy Thompson, Shirley Charles, Samuel Thompson, Josephine Thompson, his twin, Wilbert Thompson, and Gloria Thompson.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Christian Life Center in Opelousas, LA.
