Roy T. Martin, 80, of Hilliards, PA, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh. He was born on March 19, 1945, in Ridgeway, VA to the late Hazel Martin Turner and the late Pete G. King. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Martinsville, VA in 1963. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Pope Airforce Base in Fayetteville, NC and was honorably discharged in 1967. He was a trained upholsterer, starting his career at American of Martinsville Furniture in Martinsville, VA.
After 25 years, he retired from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania as an upholstery foreman in March 2002. He also owned and operated his own upholstery business for over 30 years. He was a believer In Jesus Christ, receiving Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in September 1999. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Grove City, PA, serving as a trustee. He enjoyed upholstery, fishing, hunting, carpentry, the outdoors, studying the Bible, and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was an avid sports fan in which his favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a cable news junkie, staying in tune with politics and the world around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Karen Renee Harris, and one brother, Nathaniel Hairston. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beverly D. Martin, whom he married on July 23, 1983; three children, daughters, Cathy M. Martin of Martinsville, VA, and Veronica Martin of Butler, and a son, the Rev. William T. Martin of Butler; granddaughters Nijeria Jones of Martinsville, VA, Sheri Millner of Eden, NC, and Alanna Hairston of Radford, VA; three great-grandchildren, Khloe, Kobe, and Kace Martin of Eden, NC; two sisters, Katy M. Dalton of Richmond, VA, and Ruby Mae Hairston of Martinsville, VA; one brother, Kenneth L. King (LaVesia) of Martinsville, VA; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones, and friends.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 12 pm until the time of service at 2 pm with his son, Rev. William T. Martin officiating. Private burial in Butler County Memorial Park, Butler, PA.
Visitation will be held on Feb 05 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM and immediately following will be the memorial service at 2 p.m.
