Mr. Amos Respress was born on May 1, 1927, to the late Mrs. Lillie Prater Respress and the late Mr. Charlie Respress in Thomaston, Upson County, GA.
He was educated in the public schools of Upson County. At the age of eighteen, he entered the United States Army. He served from August 30, 1945, until November 25, 1946, and received a World War II Victory Medal. He received an Honorable Discharge and was proud of the service he gave to his country.
After returning home, he sought employment in construction. He became trained in carpentry. He was a skilled worker and used his talents to help others in the community.
He enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden. He enjoyed sharing them with his neighbors and others in the community. He lived peacefully among his neighbors and was a good friend to many in the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all his sisters and brothers. On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, the Lord called him home to rest. His spirit took flight and returned to the Father.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Mr. Emory Lewis Bentley of Ypsilanti, MI; a devoted friend, Mrs. Doris Cox and family of Yatesville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
