Dorthea R Williams

The earthy life of Dorthea R. DeShong-Williams began on April 3, 1953. In Nashville, Tn. She was born to Eulius Britt and Virginia DeShong.
Dorthea accepted Christ at the early age or 3 years old. She moved to Detroit, Michigan to be raised by her grandmother, Emma DeShong.
Dorthea attended the public schools in Detroit before moving back to Nashville at the age of 14 in 1967. After returning to Nashville she graduated from North High School and continued her education by attending Tennessee Vocational School where she received her license in cosmetology.
Dorthea worked in retail as a young woman, Harvey’s, Cain-Sloan, and Castner Knott.
She married the love of her life, Albert Williams, Sr. on February 11, 1971. To this union 3 children were born, Albert L. Williams, Jr., Punkin (Jacqueline) of Michigan, Delita “Michelle” Williams and Delvin L. Williams.
Dorthea’s main and most important job was being a devoted mother to her children and a devoted grandmother to her grandson, Cedric, son of “Michelle”.
Albert and Dorthea helped raise Cedric after Michelle’s accident. Her dedication to Michelle was beautiful. She and Albert were caring and devoted parents, caring for her until she transitioned from this life to eternity.
Some of her hobbies were singing with family, knitting as a young girl and drawing.
She joined Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with her husband and children as well as her mother-in-law, sis. Daisy “Bell” Harris.
Dorthea, was loved and supported by her church family. The church was a blessing to the family as they went through different struggles and trials. She attended until her health no longer permitted her to attend.
Dorthea transitioned from this earthly life on Monday, February 9, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother and daughter, Delita “Michelle”, brother in law, Ronald Woodard.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memories; her loving and devoted husband, Albert L. Williams, Sr., sons, Albert, Jr. (Jacqueline) Williams, Michigan, and Delvin L. Williams, grandchildren, Cedric (Tiffany) Johnson, Euima, Tierra and Jonathan, bonus grandchildren, brothers, Preston Britt and Prince Charles Britt, sisters-in-law, Rosalyn (Rev. Eugene) McKissack, Vickie McKissack, Carolyn Harris, brothers-in-law, Clarence E. Hill and Freddie Dunlap, Jr., numerous nieces and nephews, devoted friends, Gaynell Daniels, Sharon D. Atkinson, Jacqueline Coleman-Robinson, Patricia Arnell, pastor Theodore H. Bryson, Mrs. Gloria Bryson and family, Virenda and Luther Orr and many others, close family and friends, Eboni Johnson, Jasmine Cartera and family, Janiya Shelton and Jessie Johnson and her Mt. Nebo M.B. Church family.
