Dorothy Robinson, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 4th, 2026. Born on May 24, 1926, in Morton, Pennsylvania to Wilbur Prince Daniel and Georgia Gregg Daniel. Dorothy was the embodiment of love, resilience, and grace.
Dorothy spent her formative years in Prospect, Virginia, educated in the Prince Edward School system. After school she worked as a laundress for Kilkare Laundry and retired from Southside Community Hospital laundry services after 30 years of service.
On January 26th, 1946, she married Lawrence Robinson and from that union in Cumberland, Virginia, they raised four children, Beatrice, Edward, Carl and William.
A steadfast member of Sharon Baptist Church. Dorothy found great purpose in her role as Church Mother. She served in the Missionary, Pastor’s aide and Usher ministries and bestowed the title of Chaplain Emeritus of the Usher’s ministry. Dorothy faithfully ushered well into her nineties until her health began to decline.
However, one of her most treasured titles was that of grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Dorothy delighted in the company of her grandchildren and took immense pride in each new generation that followed.
She is survived by her children Beatrice, Edward and William. A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren and hosts of nieces, nephews. Dorothy leaves behind an incredible legacy of love, faith, and family that will continue to flourish through those she cherished most.
