She was preceded in death by her Husband, James E. Gates; brothers, James C. Kindell, Timothy E. Kindell (Claudine).

She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Joann Gates-Shealey (Justin); son, Isaiah J. Gates (Jasmin); sisters, Carolyn Darden (William), Willie Mae Culberson (Pete), Adeline Cody Kindell, Edith T. Kindell; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
