Eugene Robinson

Eugene "Sonny" Robinson, 85, passed away on February 18, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Eugene was born in Siloam, Georgia November 16, 1940.

Eugene was a graduate of Austin High, a U.S. Army Veteran, retired from Y-12 after 27 years. Eugene loved watching westerns and old movies. Eugene also enjoyed watching NCAA sports and he especially loved the NBA. Eugene was very passionate about history. He was always readily available to give advice, whether you wanted it or not. Nothing gave Eugene more pleasure than seeing and hearing about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eugene's best friend was his devoted grandson Aaron. They had a very special bond.

Eugene was preceded in death by father William Robinson Sr., mother Ada Clara Robinson, brothers Harold Robinson Sr., William Henry Robinson Jr., and niece Keenan Robinson

Eugene leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife of 60 years, Ernestine Robinson, sons William(Tanza) Robinson, Eugene "Terrell" Robinson, daughter Tracy Robinson; brother and sister-in-laws Bonnie Harper, Rev. Harry James(Ina) Patrick, Terrell(Angela) Patrick, Deborah Patrick Hickerson, Renee Gray, Gail Robinson; Stepmother Shirley Robinson; grandchildren Tiffani Robinson, Xavier Robinson, Aaron Eugene Robinson Easterly, Ciera Robinson; great-grandchildren Noah Robinson, Alea Robinson, Amari Easterly, Aydon Easterly, Aaziyah Easterly, Azikeal Easterly, Mykyle D. Lewis Robinson, Malachi Lewis Robinson; great-great-grandchildren Messiah Robinson, Malayika Chavez- Lewis and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Tennova North Medical Center, Beverly Park Place Health and Rehab, and the University of Tennessee Medical Center (MCC) for their loving care of Eugene. The family would also like to thank their dedicated and caring neighbors. Eugene was deeply loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him and calling him friend.
A celebration of Eugene's life will be held at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Knoxville, on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Visitation at 11:00a.m., with the service at 12:00 p.m. where Rev. Jesse Williams will be officiating. The final resting place will be held at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
