Funeral service for Mildred Gray, 87, of Opelika, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church, 650 Jeter Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801 with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801, Reverend Clifford E. Jones will officiate.
Mrs. Gray, who passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama, was born February 20, 1939, in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Friday, February 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Gray will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mildred’s life and legacy will be cherished by: her children, Brenda, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Stanley (Ericka), Valerie, Rodney, Robert (Charlotte) and Constance; her grandchildren, Shambrina, Justin, Quwanda, Jeremy, Faydra, Jarvis (Whitney), Cedric, Jacquez (Ashley), Marquez (Erin), Ariana, Rodney, Jr., Jermaine, Alexis, Torrance, Darius, DeMarquis, Tonekia, Cratesha, Fashonda and Brittany; her great-grandchildren, Jayda, Chenya, Justin II, Ambrose, Destiney, Diamond, Azorian, Zavaion, Ahriona, Elias, Whitley, Willow, Ashton, Ti’erica, Torey, Khristopher, Trinity, TJ, Jalan, Jadan, Jayah, Jeremiah, Journey, Jacob, Joshua, Nyla, Ryshawn, Jr., Brielle, Kassidy and Jaion; her sister, Clara Delano Curtis Haynes; uncles, Ben Curtis and OD (Willie Carrie) Curtis; aunt, Odessa Curtis Miller; special nephew, Elton Curtis; special great-nephew, Monzavous (Rae) Edwards; special nieces, Diana Gray Clark and Shana Cox Fountain; sister-in-law, Fannie Parker Roberts; brother-in-law, Anthony “Peter” Aiken; other nieces, nephews, cousins, chosen children, friends and her church family.
