J.H. Hartsell, 84 of Sunset, TX, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, in Bowie, TX.

Family has chosen arrangements with cremation, and a private burial will take place at a later date at Perryman Cemetery in Forestburg, TX.

J.H. was born October 24, 1941, in Montague County, TX to Rex and Lovie (Akin) Hartsell. He attended high school in Memphis, TX, and after school he joined the United States National Guard for six years. J.H. then spent the rest of his life working in the oil field.

He is preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, J.A. Hartsell; brother, Jimmy Hartsell; brother, Connie Charles Hartsell; and sister, June Barnhill.

J.H. IS survived by his sisters, Ila Holcomb of Royce City, TX and Faye Smithey and husband Danny of Arlington, TX; brother George Hartsell of Sunset, TX; sister, Linda Melvin and husband Russ of Wichita Falls, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the care given by Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Bowie and Hospice Plus.
