Mrs. Mattie E. Groves, 82, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Signature Healthcare in Elizabethtown.

She was a member of Mount Union Baptist Church..

She was preceded in death by her children, Theresa Haley and Robert Nelson, her parents Mary M. and William M. Compton, brothers, Joseph, William L., Arthur, Carl and Everett, a sister Mary L. Compton.

She is survived by her son Leonard Groves, Jr.; three grand children, Rynia Hawkins, Seantay Carnes and Jamall Groves; two great grandchildren, Isiah Carnes and Izerha Groves; two brothers, James Compton and Johnnie Compton; two sisters, Barbara (Willie) Simpson and Anna Jennett; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday , March 14, 2026 at Percell and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabethtown Cemetery.

Visitation after 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026 at the funeral home.
