It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Annie Lee Harris.
Annie Lee Harris, born on September 25, 1937. On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, she peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Frances Harris; her brother, Samuel Harris; her sisters, Beulah Mae Wilson, Cherrye Lee Bryant, and Frances Powell.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory three daughters, Councilwoman Valerie Ford of Midway, FL, Sheila Carney (Roosevelt) of Quincy, FL and Kendall Gardner; two sons, Josephus Gardner Jr. and Patrick B. Gardner; three sisters, Acquilina Jones, Jessie Lee Harris, and Cynthia Gail Harris, all of Tallahassee, Florida.
Annie was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren, Mario Gardner (Cameka) Kiwanda Freeman, Toni LaCount (Alonzo), Brandy Freeman (George), Calvin Whitmore IV (Rachel), Jamie Carter (Renald), Michael Gardner (Nicole), Roosevelt Carney Jr (Jahlia) and Johnathan Ford (Leslie); twenty-five great-grandchildren, eighteen great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews.
At a very young age, Annie came to know and love the Lord. She was an active member of her church and was well known for her angelic voice in the choir. During her professional years, she worked in healthcare, where she developed a deep passion for caring for others.
Annie loved her children deeply. As the matriarch of her family, she encouraged them—and everyone she encountered—to always lean and depend on the Lord. Her faith was her anchor and her strength. She often shared fond memories of her life with a joyful sense of humor that left others smiling and feeling warmly uplifted.
Annie stood as a strong pillar in her community, she will always be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and love her.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Souls Port United Pentecostal Church, 9301 Mahan Dr. Burial will follow at the Barrow Hill Cemetery.
