Cynthia Elaine Ellison, lovingly known as “Moon,” entered eternal rest on March 10, 2026. She was born to the late Lucious McCullough and Alice Ellison, and throughout her life she shined as a light to those who knew and loved her.
Cynthia attended Waynesboro High School and was a proud member of the Class of 1985. During her younger years, she was well known around 6th Street Park, where she earned the title of one of the best female basketball players in the neighborhood. She had a joyful spirit and a gift for bringing laughter to others, often sharing jokes and stories that could brighten anyone’s day. Cynthia worked in various manufacturing roles throughout her life, always demonstrating resilience, dedication, and strength.
Above all, Cynthia was a loving and devoted mother who deeply loved and adored her children: Devellus “Pnut” Ellison, Kareem Saxon, and Cordetha “Shandy” Ellison. Her children were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Cynthia was also a devoted grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and comfort to many. If you knew Moon, you knew Moon.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Ellison; her father, Lucious McCullough; her beloved daughter, Cordetha “Shandy” Ellison; her brother, Jeffery Ellison; and her sisters, Gloria Jean Ellison, Vanessa Ellison Harvey, and Shirley Denise Reid.
Cynthia leaves to cherish her precious memories with her sons, Devellus Ellison and Kareem Saxon, both of Augusta, Georgia; her sisters Peggy Ann Ellison, Alice Ellison, Mary Ellison, and Mellissa Ellison, all of Waynesboro, Georgia; her grandchildren Ayden Ellison, Aubry Ellison, Mckiver Ellison, and Da'Marion Thomas, all of Waynesboro, Georgia; her beloved aunts Johnnie Mae Miller of Augusta, Georgia; Naomi Crawford of Augusta, Georgia; Judy Brady of Keysville, Georgia; and Annie Ruth Dukes of Norfolk, Virginia; her uncles Jimmy (Georgette) Herrington of Keysville, Georgia; Floyd Moore; and John Evans of Buford, South Carolina; a special cousin, Josephine Green of Waynesboro, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
