Mr. Willie James Golden, son of the late Will and Mary Lee Stewart, was born on July 13, 1949, in Orlando, Florida. He was a proud graduate of Washington Street High School, home of the Mighty Wildcats.
Mr. Golden served his country honorably in the United States Navy for several years. After completing his military service, he continued his education at a junior college in Orlando, Florida. He later graduated from a technical school, where he received training in air conditioning and refrigeration.
Throughout his life, Mr. Golden worked in various occupations. He was known for his great sense of humor and his willingness to speak his mind on any subject. He was also a faithful member of Shumate Street Church of Christ, where he remained devoted in fellowship until his health began to decline.
Mr. Golden departed this life on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11:51PM.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters: Sonja L. Smith (Monica) of Valdosta, Latesha N. Wilson (Nikki), and Precious Golden of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; one son, John Riley; a nephew who was like a son, Victor Bush of Quitman, Georgia; one sister, Dorothy S. Bush; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at the Stevens McGhee chapel from 2PM-5PM.
Home going services will be Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Shumate Church of Christ at 11AM with Bro. Tony Herring, officiating. Military burial rights will follow in North End Cemetery immediately following the home going celebration. Visit this website to view a livestream of the celebration.
