Veronica Eunice Greenwood, a resident of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on October 29, 2016 at the age of 69. Veronica was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica on August 15, 1947. Veronica migrated to the United States in July 1971. She resided in Stanford, Connecticut until 2000 when she moved to North Carolina. She returned to Connecticut for a brief period, and then permanently made Durham, North Carolina her home in May 2013 when her son, Billy-Dee, blessed her with a house for Mother’s Day. For more than 30 years, Veronica was a well-known seamstress. She eventually created a small business called “Designs by Veronica”. From hats to wedding dresses, she created any and everything imaginable. You were sure to see how she spent her time the previous week by seeing her in her Sunday best, which she never wore twice. She also was known for her cooking. No matter when you visited her, not only were you fed a great Caribbean influenced meal, you were also mentally fed with kindness, spirituality, and the state of UNC sports. If you knew Veronica, you knew she was a die-hard Tarheel fan! Veronica was married to Basil Greenwood, Sr. and to this union, two children were born. Veronica leaves to cherish her memory, the children God blessed her with: two sons, Basil Greenwood, Jr. (fiancée, Brittany) of Bear, Delaware and Billy-Dee Greenwood of Durham, North Carolina; one daughter, Dionne Brown of Bristol, Connecticut; and three grandchildren, Ariana Vanessa Greenwood, Cory Brown and Daniel Brown. She also leaves to cherish her memory, which she called her “free agent children”: Johnny Vines of Stamford, Ct., Jimmy Wright (wife, Deidre and son, Donovan) of Durham, North Carolina; and Anthony Anderson (wife, Shay and son, Mason) of Durham,North Carolina.
