Obituary For Charles Carr

Charles Anthony Carr was born November 7, 1964 in Durham, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Willie Carr and Mary Doris Craig. On December 21, 2016 at sunset he quietly and peacefully ended his journey here on earth. As a child he attended Fisher Memorial AME Church. He attended Hillside High School and received a high school diploma from Durham Tech. “Turk” as he was so fondly called by friends and family, loved to cook and was employed by Veterans Benefit for Justice as head chef for many years. His greatest passion in life was his love for Duke and NCCU basketball. You would often see him in the bleachers cheering for his teams. He loved to make people laugh and brighten up any room with his hilarious jokes. Such a joyous man will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves saddened hearts that rejoice in the celebration of his life and who will forever cherish his memory: his sons Demarian Kornegay and Zion Ahmod Mikell; granddaughter Imani Richardson and grandson Demarian Kornegay; four sisters: Lucy Geraldine Clements (New York), Ruth Long (Virginia); Cheryl Hargraves and Pamela L. Carr (Durham, NC). , Six brothers: Rudy Hargraves(Virginia), David Carr wife DeeDee (Michigan), Randy Hargraves (Greensboro), Gary Hargraves, William Craig, and Shawn L. Carr all of Durham. A brother James Farrington, Jr preceded him in death. A “special friend”, Lawanna Kendra Mikell and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Memorial service will be at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 4:00 pm.
