Obituary For John Daye

John Tyler Daye June 17, 1921 – December 25, 2016 Mr. John Tyler Daye peacefully entered eternal slumber on December 25, 2016.He was born to the late Mr. Alfred Daye and Mrs. Alice Daye of Granville County, North Carolina. He started his formal education at Little River High School and completed his education while serving in the United States Army. He also completed coursework as a machinist, and secured a certification as an automobile mechanic through the veteran’s on-the-job training. He was a fast learner and worked his way up through the ranks to become a master repairer during his 30 plus years at American Tobacco Company. Also, as an astute employee during his tenure with American Tobacco Company he made several innovations to the manufacturing machines effectively increasing their efficiency and reliability. After retiring from the American Tobacco Company he became the proprietor of a successful lawnmower shop that he operated for over 25 years. He was recognized for his Christian work as a Trustee at Peace Missionary Baptist Church, a position he held until he departed life. He was an avid bowler receiving numerous trophies and was well known for his delivery; and he was a Free Mason. John was preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Daye, son John Anthony Daye (Ann) nine siblings. He was married to Eloise Jamison Daye from that union three daughters and also married to Dorothy Williams Daye from that union one son. He is survived by his loving wife Anne Hamilton Daye of 55 years; daughters Virginia Daye Borders (Larry), and Katie Daye Monroe (Ronald), son Jeffrey T. Daye (Christine), loving sister Emma Daye Gentry. Grandchildren Tammy Minor(Sterling), Craig Daye(Stacy), LaQuettii Barnett(Rodney), Danielle Daye, Aaron Harris, Alan Harris, Stephen Waddell, Makena Daye, ten great grandchildren and a host of family and friends . Funeral service is Friday, December 30, 2016, 1:00 pm at Peace Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation on Thursday, at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
