Freddie Ulysses Curtis, 70, peacefully entered his eternal rest at his home in Durham, North Carolina on April 5, 2017, with his devoted wife, Linda Hubbard Curtis, by his side. Freddie was the third child of the late Thernotta Cumbo Curtis and Otis Curtis. He was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina and attended Hampton University where he played football. Freddie had a deep love for God and cherished his private time communing with Him, seeking His guidance in all things. He was an active lifetime member of First Baptist Church on Wilmington Street in Raleigh. He was a loving husband, a caring father, a very proud grandfather, a trustworthy brother, nephew, and uncle, and a faithful friend to all who came to know him. He was witty and fun-loving. In addition to his wife, Dr. Linda Hubbard Curtis, also left to cherish his precious memory are his daughters Crystal Downs (Marcus) and Joy Peebles; brothers Michael and Tony Curtis; aunts Eunice White, Thelma Lennon, and Bernice Coles; grandchildren Hayden, Hamilton and Harper; nephew Benjamin; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Homegoing service will be on Monday, April 10, 2017, at White Rock Baptist Church, 3400 Fayetteville Street in Durham at 1:00 pm, visitation at noon.
