William Milton North

William Milton North, 91 of Bowie, Texas passed away on Friday, March 20th, 2026.


Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, with Pastor Mike Henson officiating.


Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.


William was born March 23, 1934, in Jayton, TX to Van R. and Hartense (Sandell) North. He attended grade school in Clairemont, Texas and graduated from Spur High School in 1950. He attended and graduated from Hardin Simmons University in 1955, where he was a member of the Cowboy Band for four years.


William was married to Jean Karr on June 4, 1954. They had two daughters, Jane and Carol, four grandsons, and eight great-grandchildren.


William was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Bowie and the Seekers Sunday School Class.


William worked with Standard Oil of Indiana in the Pampa District for five years and with the Walter O'Bannon Company for fifteen years. He retired after managing Pride Express trucking company in McKinney, Texas.


In retirement, he became active in the Bowie Masonic Lodge where he served as Secretary for seven years and as District Deputy Grand Master. He is a past Master of Bowie Lodge #578 and Blue Grove Lodge #965, and a recipient of the Golden Trowel Award. William was also active with the Fort Worth Scottish Rite becoming a 32nd Degree Mason, Knight Commander of the Court Of Honor.


William shared his love of the outdoors with his family, creating many cherished memories of times together fishing, hunting, and camping, and he was loved dearly by his family. He enjoyed playing dominoes at the Senior Citizens Center and working in his garden.


He is preceded in death by his parents and great-granddaughter, Kamden Grace Perkins.


William is survived by his wife Jean; daughters, Jane Spradling and husband Denny, and Carol Grant and husband John; four grandsons, William Perkins and wife Susan, Michael Perkins and wife Jenn, Andrew Grant and wife Amy, and William Westin Grant; seven great-grandchildren, Maddox Perkins, Liam Perkins, Braxton Perkins, Jemma Perkins, Benton Grant, Josey Jean Grant, and Corbin Grant.
