Connie "Sue" Fitzgerald

BOWIE – On March 20, 2026, Connie “Sue” Jackson Fitzgerald, 87, our sweet Ma, walked into Jesus’ arms surrounded by her girls and brother.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at The White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.

A graveside Celebration of Life service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Willow Point Cemetery in Balsora, Texas.

Sue was born on February 8, 1939, in Decatur, Texas, to Maurice and Geneva (Harris) Jackson. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1956; she played on the 1955 State Champion Jackrabbit basketball team. Following graduation, Sue worked at the Montague County Courthouse.

She married Mel Anders in 1958; they had three daughters: Terri, Tammie, and Tracy. On January 12, 1973, she married Carl Fitzgerald in Nocona, Texas. They shared 44 years of devotion, love, and laughter before his passing in 2017.

Sue worked for the City of Bowie for many years before working with Carl, co-owner of East Side Lumber in Bowie.

A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Sue taught Sunday School for many years. She will forever be remembered as a sweet, loving, kind, and devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; and her brother, Tim Jackson.

Sue is survived by her daughters: Terri Wallace (Chuck) of Bowie; Tammie Miller (Alan) of Bowie; and Tracy Birkett of Grand Prairie, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Stetson Miller (Toni) of Bowie; Baylie Miller (Jana) of Hearne; Karli Hudson of Dallas; Kyle Hudson (Olivia) of Cleburne; Levi Wallace (Karsen) of Waxahachie; Emily Yee (Ryan) of Fort Worth; T.J. Birkett of Stamford, Connecticut; and Melanie Birkett and Georgia Birkett of Grand Prairie.

Her great-grandchildren: Reyan Lehoski, Kendall Lehoski, Blakely Thompson, Brynn Miller, Briar Miller, Camryn Miller, Clay Yee, Tate Wallace, and Kamryn Hudson. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Skinner; her brother, Mike Jackson; her cousin, Louie Jackson and wife Janet; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
