Clyde was born November 1, 1954, to Harold Price Sr. and Evelyn Mae (Carnes) Stirewalt, in Carthage, Missouri. He was raised in Southern California and later relocated to Texas in 1993. He finally settled down in Bowie, Texas on Amon G Carter Lake in a house that he built with his family.
He met the love of his life Thelma “Tedi” Ellen (Dickerson) Stirewalt on Sunday, October 28,1973 while cruising the streets like teenagers did in Westminister, California. He knew from the moment he saw her that he wanted to know her, and after their first date they were inseparable. They married on May 26th, 1974. Together they had 3 children and 9 grandchildren.
He was a 3rd generation marble and granite mason, and so much of his work was artistry. You can see some of his work on display at Cook Children’s Hospital, The original Texas Ranger’s stadium, the original Cowboy’s stadium, Texas Motor Speedway, The Hulen and Northeast Mall, South Coast Plaza, John Wayne’s home, Marie Callender’s home, Pia Zadora’s home, and so much more. He was a jack of all trades, master of one, and worked diligently his whole life to provide for his family, which was his whole world. If you were to ask him what his greatest accomplishment was, he would have said it was his kids and their children. He was their greatest cheerleader, and they were his legacy.
Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed off roading to the Kern River, camping in the Sierra Mountains, creating massive bonfires from whole tree trunks (IYKYK), fishing anytime he saw water, watching the Kansas City Chiefs play, and preparing and eating good food with his family. Clyde was always the life of the party with his great sense of humor, and he never met a stranger. You just never knew what was going to come out of his mouth.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Stirewalt Sr. and Evelyn Mae Carnes; brother Harold Stirewalt Jr.; brothers-in-law Gordon Bailey Sr. And Chuck Bennett; grandsons Aidan and Avery Stirewalt; granddaughter Promise Joy Melton; and his beloved companion Buddy.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Tedi; son Clyde David Jr.; daughters Jaime and husband Daniel Melton, and Mallory and husband Colton Broussard; nine grandchildren David Stirewalt, Taven Melton, Maevelyn Melton, Tesher Melton, Chazlyn Webb, Taelyn Webb, Trace Webb, Chloe Broussard, and Cade Broussard; and one great grandchild Bellamy Stirewalt.
He is also survived by his brothers Donald and Daniel Stirewalt; sisters Gail Bailey and Cindy Bennett; sister-in-law Linda Stirewalt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
