Leon Malone


Funeral service for Deacon Leon Malone 93, will be Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2:30 PM at Sweet Rock Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Eden Hills Cemetery. Deacon Malone passed away on March 21, 2026 at Anniston Health and Rehab. Deacon Malone's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his services.

He graduated from Calhoun County Training School. then attended Gadsden Vocational School. He later joined the United States Army. He participated in many civic activities, he was a member of the first industrial Board of Hobson City under the leadership of Mayor J.R. Striplin, named Genesco. Then that group developed the first and current Housing Authority.

He was a member of the first auxiliary police force, he worked and organized little league (children teams) baseball. ~Shortly after that, he organized the first all women softball team. He worked several full-time jobs, at the U.S. Pipe and Work Foundry, Hobson City Housing Authority and 30 years at Oxford Water Works Company where he later retired. He was the owner of Malone Park and Recreation Center. He was a member of Masonic Lodge in Hobson City. A devoted Deacon at the Sweet Rock Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children: Sophia Malone, Rodney (Melissa) Malone; his brother: Bobby Malone; his bonus children: Patricia Ann (Lawrence) Mull, Wanda Allen, Angie Wood, Leroy Williams, Roderick (Vanessa) Williams, Michael Williams, Charles (Ethel) Williams. Shannon Pyle and Gregory Pyle, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Davis "JD" and Cora Lee Malone, sister in-law, Brenda Malone, bonus son in-law, Lane Allen. Anniston Funeral Service Jeffrey C. Williams 256-236-0319
