James Eubanks Wright

James Eubanks Wright, 91, of Forestburg, TX entered his heavenly home on Saturday, March 21, 2026, after a brief hospital stay.

Visitation will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31st, at the Forestburg Baptist Church.

Funeral service will directly follow at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31st, at the Forestburg Baptist Church, with Dr. Stewart Holloway officiating.

Burial will follow at Perryman Cemetery in Forestburg, TX.

James was born on January 30, 1935, at Anadarko, Oklahoma to Chris and Odie Alexander Wright. Family later moved to Wichita Falls where he attended school. In 1952 he moved to Fort Worth, Texas where he was employed by A. Brandt Furniture Mfg. He worked there until he opened his own business, Wright’s Custom Upholstery in Keller.

When he was sixteen his mother signed for him to join Texas National Guard where he served for 34 years. During those 34 years, he saw active duty during the Berlin Wall Crisis. He was also activated for duty after the devastating tornado in Wichita Falls in 1979.

He married the love of his life Mildred Ann Lane Ragsdale (Millie) on February 12, 1960. They had one son, Glenn. James was the proud “Pawpaw” of three granddaughters. Tori Wright Howard, Delaney Wright and Cassidy Wright Thompson. He was also “Pawpaw” to two great granddaughters, Payton and Landry Howard.

After moving to Forestburg, James closed his business in Keller in 2000. He spent his retirement years with family and friends. He was an avid gardener. Being outside working in the flower beds or garden was his happy place. He also liked to work on puzzles. He would never quit until the last piece was in place.

James was a member of Forestburg Baptist Church. He is one of the first deacons ordained by the church. He took care of the outside grounds of the church and parsonage. He could be found working in the flower beds or mowing the lawns.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Odie Wright, sisters Lula Thedford, Betty Buford, brother Wayne Buford Wright.

James is survived by his wife, Millie; son, Glenn and wife Stephanie; grandchildren, Tori Howard and grandson-in-law Justin Howard, Delaney Wright, Cassidy Thompson and grandson-in-law Matt Thompson; great-grandchildren, Payton and Landry Howard; and nieces and nephews.
