Velma Lea Bohanan, 94, passed away April 2, 2026, into the loving arms of her savior Jesus Christ at Advance Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Bowie, Texas following several years battling dementia.
Velma was born on January 4, 1932, in Alexandria, Louisiana to Joseph and Lucinda Clark. She met her husband James Bohanan Sr., and the couple were married April 1952. Besides being a military spouse and raising one son, she loved to garden. She worked as a secretary to different military offices. Spending her days off with her dogs was her joy. She cherished every moment spent with her husband on different deployments.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters.
She is survived by her son, James Bohanan Jr. of Wichita Falls, TX, grandchildren in California and great-grandchildren in Tennessee.
No services are planned. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Bowie and Solaris Healthcare. Their dedicated care and kindness were greatly appreciated. The family is very grateful for her caregivers Candy and Cynthia for many hours caring for her.
